Cannabis, when enjoyed right, can transform any regular night into something relaxing, trippy, exciting, or hilarious.
However, much like with anything, it is entirely possible to over-consume. Only with weed, the side effects are a lot more unpleasant. Maybe you've experienced this before, or maybe you're just curious.
Either way, if you happen to overdo it, here are some signs to cut yourself off for the night.
Anxiety
Even mild over consumption can lead to social anxiety, especially in groups. When alone, or on your own in public, it may morph into a strong paranoia. This may result in dread, fear, and a fast heartbeat. You may notice it in a friend, too; they might go quiet, wide-eyed, or need help. be sure to be there for them and get them somewhere safe.
Stress
To much weed can lead to an escalated heart rate, and increased blood pressure whist feeling very calm. Think adrenaline while sitting.
This can be enjoyable, but if it’s intense of if other stress factors creep in it can be a lot. Weed slows you down, stress speeds you up, the combination of the two can lead to feeling overwelled, confused and more stress.
Headaches
Headaches are a pretty common sign you've overdone your limit. These can occur right in the moment or even into the next day---a sort of pot hangover, if you will.
The solution? When high, have water nearby.
Feeling Like Your Dying
If you expraince this, you have over-dosed. Take a look our page for what to do if you over consume.
High blood pressure plus high heart rate combined with an overall lull, or a feeling almost like being forced to sleep, can make you feel like your body’s shutting off.
All though this experience is very scary, dying from over consumption of weed is unlikely if not impossible.Occasionally, this is an experience that can turn people off of weed altogether.
You build tolerance fast to weed fast, so do not smoke ever some else’s tolerance.
Bottom Line
You're pretty likely to smoke too much at some point in your life, and it's not your fault. Our tolerances for weed varies, and there are all sorts of different strains that may affect it.
It's also important to remember that pot is, at the end of the day, a plant, like strawberries. Not all are the same size or shape. Similarly, the same marijuana plant can have different THC levels in different seasons.
Finally, you may be more likly to to over-consume if you are already stressed, haven’t eaten/ drank water, or have been drinking.
